Whilst many well-known regional Christmas markets have had to be cancelled due to Covid such as the ones in Chimay, Bois du Cazier or the Fééries de Courcelles, the magical atmosphere of Christmas will still prevail in certain places in the Metropolitan Area, whilst of course respecting current Covid rules.

Mulled wine, gingerbread, traditional and regional specialities… Here are some enchanting places to enjoy the festive season near you.

A Sambre Christmas in Thuin

Visit Noël en Sambre, from 17 to 19 December. Nestled in the heart of the city of Thuin, this marvellous Christmas market offers concerts, a champagne bar and the chance to take a tram ride with Father Christmas for a weekend of magic and indulgence.

At the Château of Trazegnies in Courcelles

On 11 and 12 December, walk the halls of the Château of Trazegnies in search of unique and original gift ideas for your loved ones. All of the stallholders are local artisans.

You’re sure to find a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Charleroi’s Christmas Village

This Christmas market might be less intimate and already well-known to many inhabitants of the Metropolitan Area, but the Charleroi Christmas Village is still an absolute must. This year it will take place from 26 November to 8 January. Note that on 31 December, a special New Year’s Eve event will be taking place on the Place de la Digue.

The Place de la Digue and the Place Verte will host more than 50 chalets to create a magical Christmas atmosphere. The semi-covered ice rink of more than 700 m2 is the place to show off your graceful moves (or spectacular tumbles?). Younger visitors have an area all to themselves, so you can be assured of their safety.
