The region is home to no fewer than 32 business parks, managed by the intermunicipal companies Igretec<\/a>, IDEA <\/a>and BEP<\/a>. Thousands of specialist companies have set up there.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

One example is the Espace Tr\u00e9signies<\/a> in the heart of Charleroi. As a fully renovated building, it has now become a business centre hosting a large number of SMEs. Located in the heart of the city, it has direct access to the ring road and public transport.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

More recently, a building of over 5,000m2 located on the quays of the river Sambre has been completely renovated. Named Dockin<\/a>, this is where Sambrinvest<\/a> has moved in, offering the vacant office space to more mature companies and to scale-ups, which were lacking the space they needed to develop their business in the heart of the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biopark<\/a> in turn fosters a number of incubators. Adjacent to Charleroi’s A\u00e9ropole business park, it enables start-ups in the biotechnology, engineering sciences and environmental technology sectors to benefit from all the help they need to set up a business in a single location. Biotech 4, which opened in early 2024, offers 5,000m\u00b2 of office and laboratory space. With Biotech 5 to follow suit in 2025, a sixth site is already planned. Ultimately, the aim is to accommodate 10,000 biotech employees.<\/p>\n<\/div>

A 100-hectare science and technology park, A\u00e9ropole<\/a>\u00a0de Charleroi is already a real success story. It is one of the driving forces behind the economic restructuring of the Charleroi Metropolitan Area, and today hosts more than 170 companies who jointly employ over 4,000 workers in high added-value sectors such as aeronautics, information and communication technologies, industrial engineering and life sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To conclude, there is A6K<\/a>, a technological and digital hub that brings together more than 50 organisations over an area of 10,000m\u00b2. Industrial companies, start-ups, research centres, competitiveness clusters, universities and training providers are all located here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
